Implantation in Yerevan I Dental Center in Yerevan

Chewing Teeth Implantation (Part 2)

Following these guidelines during the recovery period will help speed up healing after implantation and prevent complications:

  • Avoid constantly touching the implant with your tongue.
  • Refrain from visiting the gym, bathhouse, or sauna for 7–14 days after implantation.
  • Rinse your mouth with antiseptic solutions during the first four days.
  • Starting from the fifth day, brush your teeth twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush.
  • After surgery, using an oral irrigator is only allowed after 14–21 days.
  • Brushing with an electric toothbrush is prohibited until the implant has fully healed, as vibrations can weaken it and interfere with the osseointegration process,

Recovery after Chewing Teeth Crown Placement:

  • During the first month, eat only soft, mashed foods (avoid spicy, acidic, or peppery foods).
  • Stop smoking for at least two weeks, as cigarette smoke disrupts the healing of oral tissues and may lead to implant rejection.
  • After a sinus lift, it is essential to sneeze, cough, and blow your nose carefully, as well as take the prescribed medications, including antibiotics.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the alternatives to premolar or molar implantation? Which is better: a bridge or an implant?

Installing a bridge involves grinding down the adjacent teeth and removing the nerve. The bone in the area of the missing tooth undergoes atrophy due to the lack of chewing load. Implantation, on the other hand, prevents bone tissue loss.

What is the difference between a temporary and a permanent crown on a chewing tooth?

The temporary crown (also called an adaptive crown) is made of plastic. It is removed from occlusion to prevent excessive load on the implant while the bone integration process is still ongoing. Essentially, it restores the aesthetics of the dental arch but not its full functionality.

The permanent crown is placed only after the artificial root has fully integrated with the bone. It is made of metal-ceramic or zirconium dioxide, allowing the patient to chew even hard foods without any issues.
