Endodontics is the branch of dentistry studying pulp disease (soft tissues in teeth that include nerves and blood vessels). Endodontic treatment may involve removing the damaged pulp and replacing it with fillers called gutta-percha to preserve the structure of the tooth.
Treatment of endodontic diseases may be necessary if the tooth is damaged by trauma, has a deep carious cavity, or has other pathology that leads to pulp damage. If you don’t start treatment on time, an infection can develop, which can spread on other teeth and tissues in the tooth, leading to more serious health problems.
