Therapeutic dentistry in Armenia

First of all, the dental therapist is a doctor who specializes in the therapeutic
treatment and prevention of dental lesions and damaged areas. Very often, the first consultation related to dental problems takes place with this specialist. However, after a preliminary dental examination by the doctor, the patient can be referred to specialists of other specifications. For example, if there is a need to remove a tooth, they are referred to a Dental surgeon, a periodontist specializes in preventing gum problems, and an orthopedist deals with prosthetics.

How can a dental therapist help?

Therapeutic dentistry is the widest spectrum, as it includes treatment for various oral cavity diseases.

First of all, dentists in this area will be able to help with the following issues:

 1. Diagnosis of problems related to the oral mucosa and teeth, prescription of drug therapy,

 2. Pain reduction through therapy,

 3. Removal of defective, damaged tooth surface tissues and filling,

 4. Treatment of caries area with mechanical and disinfectant-restorative means.

 5. Dental cavity filling.

 6. Preventive research: detection and prevention of oral cavity problems at an early stage.

However, the main and most important direction in which the specialists of this field work is endodontics: root canal therapy, which is necessary in case of deep tooth infection, when the nerve located in the root canals is infected and can cause cystic granulomas.
In addition to caries and pulpitis, a dental therapist can also help in the treatment of periodontitis, stomatitis and other pathological changes in the oral cavity.
Besides,  it can help with problems such as halitosis (bad breath), bruxism (teeth grinding), and dental hypersensitivity.
The dental therapist will also help in the treatment of fluorosis, as a result of which the tooth enamel is damaged because of the excessive fluoride in the human body. The dental therapist can help as well as in case of any problem of the mucous membrane inflammation of the tongue.

Why visit the doctor when everything is fine with the teeth?

If you are lucky enough to have a good heredity (which is also important) , strong and healthy teeth and a bright smile, you should, anyway, visit the dentist regularly.

If there are no complaints, just a visit to the dentist every six months is enough to take care of teeth.
Remember that the sooner you see a doctor, the easier and faster you will solve your problem.
Early caries can be healed much faster than deep caries and does not require pain relief. However, periodontitis and pulpitis are much more difficult to treat and take longer, because it is possible a combination with related pathologies.
